I also played piano in a dance band while in high school. During World War Two I was tutored by a black piano player in Texas in that jazz style while I was stationed there for close to a year. One time I sat in with the Les Brown band as they were getting set up for a Bob Hope USO show and was joined by several players in the band. Also did some dual piano playing with another Boogie player (May Lou Williams) at a bar in Kansas City. Also had an opportunity to listen to Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons (2 giants of Boogie) as they performed at a Chicago night club. As a result, after the war I enrolled in a music school in Chicago for a year and played at clubs around the city. However, I eventually decided to pursue another career and started college. However, I continued to play at every opportunity in clubs and bars all around the country well into the 70’s. I even won a radio competition in Seattle and made a recording in Hollywood (which went nowhere). Many times a drum and bass player would join in. Some of my playing is based on sheet music I purchased. Others are based on 78 RPM records I brought and radio broadcasts. In playing Boogie and Blues there are about 15 different left hand styles while the right hand is free flowing and depends on the mood of the moment. The piano recordings I made after retirement during the 90’s.My set up is a regular PC to which I attached a Yamaha keyboard using a MIDI interface box and USB connection. My music software allows me to record, edit, modify and play digital music. The Yamaha keyboard can duplicate the sounds of well over 50 different instruments. I no longer have the Yamaha since I have developed a tremor in my right hand (I am now 82 years old) and I have sent the keyboard to my oldest son. As a brief aside, I have had 2 other main careers. As an aviator starting in 1943 with the Navy and flying military aircraft till 1952 in the reserves. Later I acquired a commercial license along with both instrument and instructor ratings. I flew general aviation aircraft up into the mid 70’s. (My PC has both WW 2 and general aviation flight simulators so my PC has a joystick, throttle and rudder pedals to let me fly over 200 different aircraft) My main career however is as a Computer professional spending time with IBM and several corporations. The last 8 years was spent to bring PC’s into a major Atlanta Corporation. However, music and piano playing is my greatest love (besides playing Myst and URU
