Since then I've done many programs and events. The name was added after a couple of months, by simply leaving out some of the letters in my avatar's name. Ktahdn ... KTDN. Some historical notes: Tapestry Happy Hour, organized on Tapestry Shard by the Tapestry Activities Group, started in early March of 2005. Various people had learned how to broadcast: Donahoo, Tahl Nava, and others. Happy Hour was the first regularly-scheduled musical event. I attended this in early June, 2005, and Donahoo taught me how to do the broadcast. Teamspeak was beginning to become popular at this time. At first we broadcast using both in-game voice chat and Teamspeak but as people became more familiar with it we switched to Teamspeak-only. I used Ashtar's Great Tree TS server until he set up the Shoutcast server. Tap Dance Night was an experiment that didn't work very well. I thought about this some more and finally came up with the "Up On the Roof!" party. It was surprisingly hard to find a shard interested in hosting it, but when Ashtar found out he welcomed us. Late 2005, early 2006 was the dark time in Uru history. No one knew if even Until Uru would last; we had the idea that each party might be the last and attendance gradually decreased. When D'mala opened in late February we got new people and more enthusiasm. It was enough. We're still here. Many of us worked very hard to bridge that long dark winter. 12/08/07 at 09:38:06 An addendum to my story above: I was talking with Donahoo last night (Swifthawk was at the party too) and asked her about how the Happy Hour got started. Donahoo said that Gazerwolf, one of the Tapestry Shard co-administrators, preceded her in the music broadcast. Also, TheThunder originated the Happy Hour idea. TheThunder was seen a few times on D'mala but not since. Gazer... I haven't seen in a long time. I remember some parties that were highly enlivened by Gazer... 2008 December 17: Perhaps the Cavern will reopen. Until then, I will continue playing Guild Wars, in which I've done some parties. The open source experiment will be a challenge for all but I hope that parties will help get people together.
