The thing about dead horses is that they don't know their being kicked.
Why is this site still up? I'm not quite sure. I suspect it is simply because I spent so much time and energy building it, that I just can't stand to let it go. So, I let it exist as a zombie.
True enough, UruTunes.com was the spark that triggered my swan dive into the world of web development and publishing. Since then, I've learned volumes and built many sites.
This may be the last time I post here, since I can't really think of anything to say.
If anyone has interest in the site or the domains, just let me know. Email and all services are still available, so speak up if you want to use any of it. |

If anyone is interested, the AJAX driven "Now Playing" widget now refreshes properly in IE.
Every project shows me another problem with Internet Exploder not doing what it should or what is expected. You see, Internet Explorer will not repeat the same AJAX request more than once per session, no matter how much you beg, plead or threaten it. In fact, one must close and reopen the entire browser window in order to make it resend any request. Why you ask? Very good question. Please let me know if you find out. So, I must lie to IE and make it think I'm making a new and different request each time. Just plain stupid. |

I'm planning to completely rebuild the Broadcasters and Now Playing lists. I'm not sure when, but the idea is to allow broadcasters to easily alter their own player page and settings so that listeners will get more up to date info, and broadcasters will have more control.
I just wanted to let everyone know that UruTunes is not stagnant or old, but we are working to make it serve you better.
I haven't forgotten or changed my mind. I'm just busy (or lazy, depending on the day) with other projects lately. Since we hardly get any traffic, I'm betting that not too many people care much. |

I've finally done something a bit more graceful with the Now Playing module using some fancy JavaScript. Next, I will be re-working the Broadcasters List and embedded Player Pages to integrate them. |

Free servers don't show in Now Playing |

As much as it pains me, I must admit defeat. The free servers that some of us use for large parties will not show up on our Now Playing list.
Our links in the Broadcasters list still work so everyone can listen with just one click, even if the feed is not showing.
Such is the way with free stuff sometimes. We'll just deal with it as best we can. One solution is to run your own home server to trigger the Now Plaing list, and use the free server to handle the crowds. Anyone that needs help with this can contact me. Our FAQ on that is quite complete and I'm always available to assist. |
